Our History

Our History
Coming from the noble land of Castilla, Zumaya has named for centuries the Spanish bird bringing freedom to those who lived in the era of masters & servants. As ‘Federico García Lorca’ said in its popular poem ‘Romance de la luna’, seeing Zumaya crossing the sky is an invitation for day-dreaming. This magic ‘wine’ land means a complete experience worth to be lived, and for those with other destination on the map, Zumaya Tempranillo offers them the chance to get conveyed to the land where elegance is bottled.

Winemaking/Vinification
Winemaking / Vinification:
The grapes that are used in the making of this wine are rigorously controlled for hygiene standards, quality, acid content and ph levels. The grapes from the youngest vineyards are used to make this wine for their capacity to produce fruity aromas. A film maceration is carried out at a temperature of 15ºC for a period of 24 hours to obtain the maximum potential of the primary aromas. Afterwards, it ferments in stainless-steel tanks between 18ºC and 22ºC for 10 days. After the fermentation, the wine ages in American oak barrels for around three months.
