A seal of quality: Tim Atkin’s scores for Las Margas wines

In the world of wine, the pursuit of excellence is a constant journey, with each vintage representing a new chapter in the history of Bodem Bodegas. Recently, the scores awarded by Beth Willard in the medium of respected wine critic Tim Atkin have generated a stir in the wine community. In particular, the scores awarded to two outstanding Las Margas wines.

Beth Willard has awarded Las Margas Vidadillo wine a satisfactory score of 91 points. This score is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Aragonese team in making exceptional wines. With their in-depth winemaking knowledge and experience, Manuel Castro and Luis Geirnaerdt have captured the unique essence of the Vidadillo variety, creating a wine that delights the senses and leaves an impression that lingers on the palate.

“A very aragonese rosado made from the local variety Vidadillo. Some of the very few vineyards still planted with this variety are found close to Bodem’s winery in the Sierra de Algairén. Vidadillo brings a unique personality to this rosé wine which is deep pink in colour and offers up a slightly wild, herbal note on the nose with wild strawberry and sour cherry on the palate. There’s a hint of tannin here which lends the wine structure. Quite gastronomic.” Beth Willard.

Las Margas Los Cerezos wine has achieved an even higher score, impressing with 93 points. Las Margas Los Cerezos embodies elegance and complexity, with layers of flavor that unfold on the palate and allow you to enjoy unique moments.

“Bodegas Bodem bought this old vineyard from a local grower whose only condition was for the surrounding cherry trees to remain so he could continue to harvest them, hence the name. A fresh and fruity Garnacha which only has a little aging, 10 months, in concrete eggs and 500L and 600L foudre. With floral notes of fresh roses and a bright cherry core, the wine is lively and concentrated. There’s a lovely touch of thyme that can be found all around the vineyard.” Beth Willard.

These ratings are more than numbers; they recognize Las Margas’ commitment to quality and excellence. Behind every bottle are years of hard work and learning, from the vineyard to the winery, where every step of the winemaking process is carried out with meticulous attention to detail.

For the Las Margas team, these scores remind them that their dedication and passion for wine do not go unnoticed. They stimulate them to continue striving for perfection in every vintage, constantly pushing the boundaries and raising the standard of what is possible in the world of wine.

The Bodem Bodegas team is grateful to everyone involved, especially our dear Beth Willard, with whom we had an unforgettable time.
